mystery batch #1 went into lockdown last night....BUT i had a little accident while candling and the egg carton that i had used to transport the eggs from the shed tipped over and 6 eggs hit the floor!!!
i trashed 5 of them but chose to leave #6 even though cracked with the “maybes but probably nots” (1 doz total) had 24 probables....and 7 quitters/clears + 5 for 1 doz trashed. also candled part of batch#2.....trashed 2 “clear” and then set final batch + 15 homegrown.

no I couldn’t bring myself to do that! one actually was leaking yolk (probably non-fertile)......and I was basically just “sick” over the whole incident!!! i can’t really explain “why” I left the 1....but membrane was still intact and looked possibly viable on candling?...i did go back to check trashed eggs again afterwards because I was afraid that i mistakenly trashed 1 from batch #2 as “quitter” but couldn’t find any evidence so I must’ve moved it before/during candling batch #2
that’s awesome!!! good for you! i/we just came in from pool and “bird watching” for the afternoon.....were having a bit of a “spat” over my frustration with my “adult” children not helping with any household chores this week when we are “busting our butts” to ensure they have a home, groceries, etc!!

(re: liquor and eggs).....so sorry about your eggs!! only thing more frustrating than dropping eggs @lockdown is candling a bunch of “clears” and realizing your male is not doing his job!! in the words of my youngest son (@ thanksgiving) “wrong bird died”
