➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Pity. I was hoping she had written it down somewhere.
I did manage to get a copy of the cookbook that my grandmother had. The Household Searchlight Recipe Book (1935). I suspect that it contains the recipes that she used but did not have written down anywhere. I do know it was the source for her Apricot pie that was made from dried apricots. I made that recipe and it came out the same as what I remembered.

Peach Ice Cream

4 cups milk, scalded
2 cups whipped cream
3 egg yolks
Few grains salt
1 cup sugar
2 cups peach pulp
1 cup pineapple juice
1 cup orange juice
1/4 cup lemon juice

Combine egg yolks, sugar and salt. Beat thoroughly. Add milk slowly, stirring constantly. Cook over hot water until mixture coats a spoon. Cool. Add fruit juices and pulp. Add cream. Freeze.

20 servings

The Household Searchlight.

Disclaimer: My grandmother was known to alter recipes to suit herself. She was also known to leave out parts of recipes when giving recipes to others.

Note to @BantyChooks this cookbook from 1935 hyphenates ice cream (Ice-Cream).

Thank you! My grandmother was the same way, so I'm well acquainted with how unreliable recipes from their books can be. I still haven't figured out how she made her corn casserole.

Tiny expensive chicken. :gig
Not everything is about the money. Sometimes it is the journey. :lau

Keep telling yourself that. It's working for me. My therapist says so. Wanna see his bill?

:lau Quail is good, isn't it! Backyard chickens are also good. And tomatoes, cucumbers, basil... Must be lunch time.
