➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Did the egg actually explode/splatter, or just ooze? I've had some that oozed a little bit but nothing touched other eggs or surfaces and it didn't affect the hatching. If it made more of a mess I would have done vinegar or diluted bleach, but I don't keep Listerine on hand. That would probably work too. I wipe out my incubators with Clorox wipes after hatch is done.
It oozed onto the rack. Which I wiped with a vinegar rag right after removing the egg. Before I used both of these incubators I used 70% alcohol, then diluted bleach, and finished with vinegar to negate any fumes. Rinsed very heavily in between. I think it was the eggs. None of the extra eggs jmf put in are developing except one, and it has a small crack...but the celadons are like 85/104 for sure developing. :idunno
I would have removed the eggs for a few minutes.
Sprayed it.
Rinsed it then retuned the eggs.
If I had disassembled it the eggs would've been out for prob 20 minutes. Next time I incubate hopefully won't be 120 eggs and there will be no rottens

My July 4th babies.... The 10 I have left I believe there are three males and seven females.

I'm wondering if I should keep three females and stick one of my new pansy males in with them.

I'm thinking I would like to process the rest this weekend.
i’ve got some definite questions re this post....but want to finish “catching up” before i ask something stupid.....

all caught up now!! and brain only partially fried from heat and “fertility in the pooper” :lau
@Texas Kiki.....yes I agree that integration into 2 smaller breeding groups will work just fine!! my pansy males integrated into full flock have produced some beautiful babies so I would not worry about “dilution” I would caution however not to “butcher” all 3 males from july group until you are sure that you have a pansy replacement that can handle the job!! keeping 2 small breeding groups and rotating them out with new grow-outs sounds like a great plan!!!

Butchered the 3 small male Jumbo quail. Cleaned carcass weights for Kiki.
4.9 oz, 4.5 oz, and 5.2 oz
or
126 gm, 139 gm, and 148 gm

Last time I did this, I tried live weights and it didn't work.
Thanks. Now I've got to dig for my weights.

I'm still confused.
Are you saying that since you've put them in groups of four the fertility rate is not good, went down, or stayed the same?

I swear the heat is frying my brain.

Sorry, I am also speed-typing in between millions of chores.

It has gone down :( But not enough that I don't think it's still worth it to have the attention from the boys a little more spread out.

New dollar store hay racks! Tis a dish rack bent in half, attached to the swinging door for easy filling, and a chickenwire bottom with all the sharp ends carefully tucked away. @Sara L I think they turned out nice!
