➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Nicccce. I'm hoping the girls who hatch are all gonna poop celadon eggs for me. Some shells in the incubators are really greenish without any speckling :fl
i’ve got 2 celadon eggs in hatch next weekend.....i’m still at zero celadons hatched of 18 set this summer :hit

I'm not there yet.
I try hard not to candle but I really like to see the changes and know what's going on... constantly.

:lau I am sure I will be the same!!

You might also try a steel rake...let me find on. I've found them wayyyyy easier to move pine chips, cedar bark, soil, etc than shovels or pitchforks. But I still use a rounded shovel to dig into the piles? Theyre also great for burn pile management but I don't think you do much burning in the burbs. Idk. Experimentation!

I think I actually have one of those too!! Hahaha

I should try using it. But our coop is 4x8 and it had spread at least as wide as the coop and back quite a bit too and was really piled up in front of the door so probably at least 6-12 inches deep too haha but I’ve been kicking it away from the door some. I think I will get that rake though and use it because I was also a bit OCD and trying to rake up every shaving piece and pine needles and going crazy instead of just scooping the big pile first :lau  and it was really hard to do with a shovel haha

And we have like 2.5 acres haha but around here you have to get a burn permit from the fire department and also you can only burn like once a year during a certain time frame in the spring lol

Neverrr. I'm reallyyyyy sad about the extras from jmf being dead. They, I am pretty sure, never developed or weren't fertile OR were murdered by shipping. They were the lavender Manchurian golden layers :duc

Ive got a handfull of those from him if ur That sad not to get any just hit me up :)

Your humidity level scares the crap outta me.

Gurrrrl I know all about burn permits. I live where the wildfires happen. Why are you not ready for quails yet if you have 2 and a half acres?! I wish I had that much space I could rule the world..with microagriculture!!

Oooo yes probably but we'll see after I get everything settled after this hatch. I want to build a couple smaller aviary/breeder pens for the best celadons. But harvest season is starting so working 6 days a week from labor day til Thanksgiving. My timeline is gonna be wonky for sure tho.

Darn. Idk why. It says it in he title of the link but then doesn’t work. Maybe cause I didn’t enter my location? Oh well.

Here’s some pics. Not exactly sure which shovel it is but I think the yellow one. But same idea. This type at least.

Also, just to get back to quail, these would probably be much to big to use for cleaning quail cages lol unless I had a quail aviary maybe. :lau

I want to set eggs October 23. Anyone else want to set with me?

Could I be added if I am not in the USA? On Aug 7th, 8pm I have set 56 Coturnix mix (including Jumbo, etc.) eggs of which 25 were infertile and 2 already died, so I have 30 now in the incubator. If Excel is calculating correctly, they should hatch on August 24th - is this correct?
I have also set another batch of Coturnix eggs on August 10th, 81 eggs, from two different suppliers, so far all fertile.
