➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Just noticed the edit. I need to read me. I don’t read nearly enough (i.e. not at all now and haven’t finished a book in years  ) so that’s probably part of it haha
Years?

I read a lot, though not nearly as much as I did when I was young and had copius free time. I change libraries every few years to ensure a constant supply of new books. (I suppose that would not be needed if I lived in a more urban area with large libraries. They are rather small around here.) Right now, I have about a dozen out on a variety of topics from the operation of the CIA to the mathematics of life—the latter of which is surprisingly interesting, believe it or not.

I hear a lot of people say they don't have time to read—to that I say you can find time for just about anything; it simply has to be a priority in your life. Whether you want to make it such is entirely up to you.

Math and numbers though... definitely not good at that. Never have been, probably never will be haha
Mathematical talent is reserved for the lucky few. I believe it's connected to a type of thinking that's relatively uncommon; that of a pattern-based understanding of the world rather than imagery or auditory diction. For the rest of us, understanding is gained by sheer willpower and stubbornness. I will never be the kind of person that could get a Ph.D. in a mathematical discipline, but I know enough to get by and to understand most of the things I wish to learn more about.

Now, I will make an attempt to stay on-topic: some photographs of my buttons and also my last Coturnix hatch of the year, Robert.

Paddles' legs. Unfortunately, the pressure from the twisted ankles ended up deforming the legs. I suspect I'll have to cull him before he hits his full size.

Well, idk if it’s exactly years, but I’m pretty sure it has been haha cause even the ones we had to read for school I never finished most of them  read just enough so I could talk and write about it and/or read summaries. And I start a lot of books but never actually finish them. Usually put them down and forget about it or start another one or both. And currently I don’t even think I’ve picked up one in who knows how long.

I used to LOVE reading as kid and read tons but then I got addicted to the internet/phone. :lau

Now when I try it’s either boring and/or I get distracted and do something else OR I actually try and read for a few hours but don’t get very far cause I suck at reading now so then I get frustrated and quit.

I want to read but now with the combination of the OCD being worse and me not having read in a while, I always get like “stuck” on specific words or sentences and have to reread them and keep rereading them. :/ usually it’s just the OCD but sometimes it’s also cause my brain refuses to actually read and process it. Either way, gets suuuuupeerrrrrrr frustrating when it takes me forever to read one tiny section so I usually just quit and give up. That’s also part of why I stopped finishing school books. Even when I locked my phone away and actually tried really hard to read it, it would take me hours and I’d still only be a few pages into the book or stuck on one tiny paragraph or page or whatever and I would get so frustrated and/or feel stupid if it was a textbook my brain was refusing to process so I’d just give up and quit and stopped even trying to read altogether. Didn’t really see the point if it would take me forever anyway. And then I’d get behind on the reading but I didn’t bother to catch up, knew I would never be able to anyway, or I would try but I would want to read what I missed first instead of the current reading, which was probably stupid but hate reading out of order, so then I’d just get more behind.

Anyway, I’m sure if I actually read more, I would get better and faster at it but it’s just not even relaxing or fun for me anymore when I get so frustrated at myself and everything. :(

We have pretty large libraries here I think but tbh I practically have a library in my closet :lau

I have so many I acquire meaning to read and never do.

I do want to start reading again though, I definitely do, so I think I’m going to start trying again. It’s fun when I can actually manage to read and get into then book haha I think it also depends on the book too because some I can’t put down and try to work through the getting stuck thing or just seem to get stuck less but others I can’t really. Idk. Anyway, I do want to try.

I mean, I obviously spend way too much time on my phone, which is definitely a big part of why I don’t read much now, but it’s also because I get so frustrated so I just don’t even bother now.

But that’s stupid.

I definitely want to try to again haha

That makes a lot of sense!! I think you are definitely right about that. It would be interesting if there was a way to prove or test that theory. I think you’re right. And hmm that’s true. I should really practice math more often haha really never do it now and forgot most of it. but even in school, I’d have to try pretty hard and still sucked at it haha

Oh and I should probably note I’ve always been a slow reader so it’s not like I went from lightning speed to super slow or anything but still, it’s just made even worse now and I’m way slower now even than before.

Also sorry for rambling.

I've heard 3 or 4 crows from the aviary this morning...I know there's at least 3 boys(watching 2 for CC while she's in the desert) and I've seen my dude do it for a couple days. They're just under 5 weeks old. Should I be worried about fighting yet?
My July 4th batch will be 7 weeks old tomorrow.
No noise or fighting yet.
I was supposed to start butchering them the other day but I keep putting it off.
I might really start this evening.

I'd kill for an actual study on the idea.

Okay, an unstructured essay thread then. ;) :lau

X2

X2! On everything haha

I’ve been told I’m good at writing though and I guess so, always got good grades on essays and stuff even when written at the last minute, and I used to love writing, but even so, don’t have anywhere near their vocabulary or artistic way of writing/the style haha

I do write better in essays and stuff, don’t really try here, but still, feel like a horrible writer reading that as well as some stuff other friends have posted before too :lau

Math and numbers though... definitely not good at that. Never have been, probably never will be haha

And OMG!! That is seriously impressive lol

See? Even here you have such a way with words aha

And x2 on the speed thing lol
Do you ever write short stories?
