➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

So out of 30 eggs, only one hatched yesterday and it looks like Texas A&M. It came out of the largest egg too. I've never had Texas A&M before... I have a piped and zipped egg and the baby is moving inside, but it has been like that for 12 hours now and not opening the shell. Is it time to help? I don't know if the rest will hatch. I bought the eggs from a bad supplier. Out of 60 eggs only 30 were fertile and I since the supplier keeps all the colors together (Manchurian, Pharaoh, A&M, etc. etc.) there may have been some lethal mixes. When should I do the float test (never done it before)...

right. OK. The question is when should I candle? The first one has been in the hatcher 12 hours now and he/she is really lonely and crying.. I am thinking of taking him/her out and put it in the brooder. But I have a zipped egg... Shall I open the hatcher, shall I not?
If it was mine, I would open the hatcher, take out the pipped, zipped egg and pop the cap off of it and let the chick push itself out unless it is shrink wrapped. If shrink wrapped, I would gently moisten the dried membrane until it can be peeled back.

You can remove the already hatched chick once it is dried off. Keep the time the incubator is open to a minimum. The don't open the incubator during lockdown is not as critical as some people try to make you think it is.

As far as candling goes, I would wait at least 24 hours after the eggs should have hatched before candling the ones that have not hatched. Again that is up to you when you want to do it.

Good luck.
