i think it’s kinda crazy too as i know all too well that most of the problems with my hatches are my own fault! but worth checking into further....when i ordered my first batch from PP they only guarantee 70% fertility (which was the exact % i received) and cost is higher per egg with no extras.

I ordered some Lady Amherst eggs a few years ago, from a breeder in Idaho. Said he was getting 95% hatch rate...Ok...well, they were all infertile, all 18. He said no refunds or returns...BS I boxed them up and sent them back to him after incubating for 24 days. included a 'nasty' little note in the box, too!

Sounds like he deserved it too! I wonder if he was actually getting that hatch rate or if he was using it as a sales tactic.

Well, what do you think, if you have 0% fertility...that's one of the bad things about ordering eggs, sure it's a risk but 0% out of 18 eggs.
Also, ordered some partridge eggs from another breeder in Wisconsin, he didn't guarantee anything except they would be fertile. Partridges are known to have low fertility, 20% alot of the time. Out of 24 eggs 3 hatched. I e-mailed him, and he sent me 24 more for free, he even didn't think that fertility rate was right. That bunch, hatched 11, so that was acceptable. He even checked back to see what my hatch was with the second batch.

We never ever ever guarantee a hatch rate since it's so hard to prove that they did/didn't meet something like that. In special circumstances like the eggs being smashed in the mail or non-fertile eggs being sent we will honor an agreement, but it honestly shocks me to see that they are guaranteeing that hatch rate percentage. That's daring lol.

supposedly the averagereported hatch rate for 2018 was 72% and they are producing around half million eggs per year, so my guess is that this limited time guarantee is to bring in new customers. they know that if all goes well they will have a bunch of hatchaholics coming back for more! and if not, my guess is that the guarantee would be to replace eggs under the 60% (i didn’t personally call for details but might once this hatch completes!)

That's how a good seller/breeder should be in my opinion. We often send out a message around the time that a hatch would occur just to make sure that everything is going accordingly. So far we haven't had any issues thankfully.

Personally, hatch rate is over rated, everyone wants a high hatch rate it seems...more importat is fertility. You can set and incubate all the eggs in the world but if they aren't fertile, your never going to hatch'em.

Oh yes of course! No hatch rates here, and we don't really guarantee fertility rates either. Negan is quite apt at his job but even then it's entirely possible that the egg may still be infertile due to whatever circumstances.

I love knowing how hatches go when I send out eggs. Some folks share, some don’t. But I always encourage people to let me know, and I always offer replacements if something goes wrong (free, shipping only, or deep discount, depending on what the problem was)

Yes, really...cost me money to order them and cost me money to send them back but I wasn't going to let him get away with it without knowing I wasn't your everyday buyer.
