@muddy75 Yeah i got a new job and have been busy busy busy but with it starting into fall we will be slowing down at work and i have more time to be on here and do my hatching and things like that but i did just hatch 8 babies in total the past month and a half. 2 polish for my daughter then 3 they were supposed to be for a guy at my last job i had 24 in the bator and only 3 hatched it was kind of sad needless to say he didn't want them so i got to keep them. and then i hatched 3 more and now i am going to be hatching quail some of the quail eggs are supposed to be here tomorrow and the others aren't going to ship till Friday they are in Texas so I imagine they will get here by Monday i will start the eggs i get Wednesday on Friday

:lau:lau:lau I saw that on the news. I saw the lady walking through the airport with a full-grown peacock on her shoulder, too... (smh) My dad built a barn for some folks who raised miniature horses when I was a kid. They were SO cool! THAT is not what I’d call a miniature horse, but then the truly tiny ones were out of most people’s price range, or out of ours, at any rate. My dad, cruelly, declined to buy me one... sigh. :(

Seriously though, if it can’t snuggle up in your lap or lie at your feet, it shouldn’t be on the airplane (unless you’re blind or paralyzed or similar). It’s a weird and ridiculous new world. I can’t help thinking something’s just gone wrong. People often don’t seem as resilient as we ought to be—not sure why.

Supposedly he was really well behaved on the flight and just laid there. He is also house broken and lives inside. He is a legitimate service animal, not one of those fake “emotional support animals” or anything that everyone tries to pass every animal off as haha

Mini horses and dogs are the only two species allowed as service animals and service horses aren’t new, they’ve been around for years.

Also I just found this other story from Inside Edition which goes into a lot more detail and explains a lot.

Apparently she suffers from PTSD and is allergic to dogs so that is why she has a horse.

I too found it slightly ridiculous or at least odd at first but there are lots of people with legitimate disabilities that use mini horses and have perfectly legitimate reasons for using them instead of dogs so I don’t think we should judge them just because they have a slightly unusual service animal.

They are all highly trained too just like any service dog would be and really aren’t any more of a nuisance than a similar sized service or guide dog would be.

People have Great Danes and mastiffs and such as service dogs too which are way bigger than this horse and to me would be way more of a challenge on a plane than a mini horse haha yet people don’t say anything about giant dogs.

And speaking of guide dogs, believe it or not there are actually guide horses too haha

Mini horse service animals are not as rare as these articles make it seem. Not super common either, sure, but there are plenty of teams out there.

Anyway, here’s the more detailed story and video/feature from them aha

hatch update looks like 40 ish so far?? the first zipper was stuck and goopy so it passed today in the bator....1 got squished in brooder, and 1 is splayed so will probably lose it. it was a Long day at work, still no ordinance in hand....but HODOR is now resting peacefully in the fridge until he leaves for freezer camp. The plan is to thin the males in the aviary over next few days. then once I finally get information I will determine the next steps.

Also I just saw this on Twitter and thought it was adorable haha different team and horse but I thought it was cute. Plus it also shows that they put a lot of time into training just like any dog team would. :D

What do you guys use as calcium for your layers? Oyster flour?

I bake and crush egg shells after i use the eggs for cooking. Its so easy, jus save the egg shells rinse em in a strainer, bake 20 mins at 350 and smash em up in a bowl. I use the ex large walmart brand plastic yogurt containers w a hole in one side to serve it and i have oyster shell for my chickens so i mix that too but i feel like most of that is too big. Can do pics tumro if u want.

Yeah all my feeders are janky containers like that. Reusing woo! Have to get organized about egg shells. We put them in the compost usually. Maybe I could talk a restaurant(s) into saving shells for me once a week
