I'm spotting some fake runner duck standers now.I have never really had a big problem with fighting among babies raised together.....it’s mainly been older ones picking on the younger ones at release. as much as you interact with your quail, I think you will have a pretty good idea and possibly consider separating out the suspicious males into a bachelor cage until you can verify and figure out which ones to keep?? I’ve been correct most of the time based on size, behavior etc even earlier than crowing or vent sexing age. Mr Squeakers (a male grau fee) has never really crowed to my knowledge but has been very vocal whenever we get near him since very early on.....I finally verified by vent-sexing last week. I’m pretty sure your one baby that is very vocal and stands up straight is a male
I have 8. I don't think that counts as hoarding, especially since I have 32 square feet for them with another 24 square feet in the works. Let's see, that's 56 square feet, with the plan of keeping a permanent covey of 8-10 birds. Sounds reasonable.probably!
Maybe everyone should post a count.
Everyone’s probably a quail hoarder by now![]()
wynola ranch sells quail leg bands pretty reasonably if i remember correctly??? and didn’t someone mention a dab of fingernail polish ok as long as it’s not red??I'm spotting some fake runner duck standers now.
I guys I need to stop bsing and try to zip tie their legs.
I'll pick some different colored ones up tomorrow.

You would end up a real hoarder with 20 cages.
From just one batch of set eggs.
