➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

not necessarily....that temp was relative for texas based on the age of @Texas Kiki youngest birds and the fact that it doesn’t typically go that low there......my heat was for the turkeys that are not completely feathered yet.......fully feathered adults can tolerate much lower temps.....i will update how mine quail tolerate the combination of low forties/high thirties and rain this weekend.
As long as they are 'dry' and have protection from drafts, they can handle the cold. Combination of wet, cold and mud will kill even full grown quail. A dry place being the most important for their survivability.

While he’s at hope he gets a deer as well I am going hunting the fist time this year come Sunday been to busy with work and everything I didn’t even get to do any real scouting this year

You guys talking about Sunday hunting makes me so jealous. It’s illegal to hunt on a sunday here in Connecticut, except they just made an exception for archery on private land

 that is wild! I had never heard of that law!

So after reading all the temp posts, should I conclude that under 50F quails need heating? Our temperatures drop to under 50F (10C) at night and I just put the cage hats.. the quails are still ok, laying eggs and no extra light.

Noooooo. Only ones not fully fledged or ones that have been used to recent super warm temps (swinging a ton in a single day isn't great for them, and it sounds like it's been WARM during the day still by them). My little farts are hovering probably 30 - 55 right now and doing fine. I would let them get closer to 20 before I thought about giving them a little assistance (and even then they really shouldn't need it).
