Hatch out complete. 1st hatched on day #16, last hatched on day #20. 20 hatched out of 30 set, 4 weren't fertile/remained clear, 2 died unhatched, 4 died/stopped early. 1 of the 20 hatchlings died on day 2, was a shrink-wrapped & curled footed baby. Remaining 19 are going strong!!! View attachment 1938151
I see a few of these in there:

Fairly new here and thought I would say hi :)

I am new to hatching quail (myself that is) - my usual incubators tend to go on strike this time of year as I live in the UK and have from what I can gather I have an unconventional setup.

My birds live mostly in a large enclosed pen - I section them off for breeding - when I have an incubator ready that is. With a recent decision to concentrate more on the quail - this may have to change soon, especially as I will be hatching more myself.

I think it may be best to illustrate with pictures :D

My four new incubators; Daisy, Rose, Violet and Bluebell.

My Brooder a 4ft x 2ft wire-topped enclosure. I find it easier to create various heat levels throughout so the chicks can find their own comfort level. Room enough for a sand bath ;)

:frow Welcome!

The polyethylene netting is ok for keeping the birds in but will not keep predators out. I covered a 'grow out' pen with it, (50' x 150') cause wire would have been too expensive...coons got in twice, loss all the birds, twice.
we’ve electrified the top perimeter since the last raccoon attack as that is how they entered. will add electric at bottom if anything attempts to dig under in an area that is not concrete. we also put out the toe-hold and live traps at first sign of raccoons nearby. at this point the concern is more about keeping birds in as my original netting was strong enough to contain quail but will not hold up to larger birds like pheasants. (my mistake in trying to save money on the original design and not getting it replaced sooner at first sign of a problem). the few pheasants left are currently in the chicken area with the turkeys where the netting is stronger until the new netting arrives and is installed. will move chukars in there and cage just the quail I want to keep during the “remodel”

Here are today's pics of the babies. I'll put my guess for each color with the picture, and hopefully someone can tell me if I'm right or wrong.

#1 Pearl Fee - This guy is huge, bigger than any of the jumbos that hatched at the same time.

#7 German Pastel View attachment 1937929
#8 Lavender? Another one that I hope is! View attachment 1937930
x3 regarding #6......#5 is not quite giving me a pansy vibe, was leaning more italian?? but not exactly sure at this stage..#4 could go white but really looking like german pastel. i don’t have any experience with lavender so can’t give any input there.

@Cedar Creek Farm Lady.....you look to have at least 1 pharaoh (possible jumbo) several red range (scarlet and scarlet tux) 2 tibetan or tibetan tux, a couple pansy or sparkly, a couple rosetta/rosetta tux, a couple roux pharaoh (egyptian) and the yellows could be white, silver, italian or possible german pastel (won’t know for sure until they feather out)......it’s a great assortment!! if any of the roux pharaoh end up male, it can be bred to pharaoh hens to create sex-link chicks.
