Is the best less stinky whay of keeping quail is in whier bottem cages?

I have this for my brooder, we are building outdoor cages kind of like Slightly Redneck's. We have all the material, we just need to get to building.

The brooder is inside because I have chicks coming next week and I don't want them outside in the small barn until 3 weeks.

I'm with you. I love the pearl colouring. My current hatch has one, and it's starting to look like a hen. I'll post a picture after I get home from work.

They're so gorgeous! It's the first color that's caught my eye. There's a couple others I really like, but I think pearl will work for my first incubation of quail eggs.

You will need a lid or cover for the brooder, they start testing their wings by the end of the first week, usually pretty feathered on wings by end of second week and can fly/hop.

@Texas Kiki I watched the Myshire videos on YouTube! I'm obsessed with the Pearl... I think that's what I'm getting. Do you have some? If you do or if anyone does, do you have pics?

I do not have any of those yet but I will soon enough.

Yes, I do believe they are all male along with everybody else in that cage.
Just trying to figure out what color they are called.

The poop gets stinky when it gets wet. Wire bottom setups allow the poop to fall through so the birds can't walk through it, but if you just let it pile up underneath and or get wet it will smell. The wire can contribute to bumble foot problems in the quail, so providing them with a means to get off the wire and keeping the wire clean and free of sharp points (dried poop can be sharp) will help prevent foot issues.

Removing the poop to a composting zone helps get rid of the smell, some folks have worm farms under their quail cages if the cage is outside.

Yes but you still need to change a poop collecting tray often.
