Quail getting into position to break out of the egg
I moved the basketball goal backboard rain block on the backside of this cage...the dummies are loving the new view.

My big dark boy did not kill my 3 homegrown hens.

Happy campers this morning.

There was even an egg laid over night.

Guess who is putting it in the bator?

Just kidding. I'll wait until after Halloween to set everything that is laid in that cage.
If you think about, it makes sense that putting him in with the older hens is working better than it was with him being in with the younger hens.

He is ready to breed. The older hens are ready to breed. You removed him from the cage with the younger hens because he was running amok and causing trouble. He was ready to breed but your younger hens still aren't ready to breed.

Yes this is exactly what I was thinking and what finally made me just do it.

Now I need to hurry up and decide if I have any other females.

I'm thinking I'm ready to practice vent sexing.

Will it make a hen not lay if i remove (butcher) her roo?
It could.
Any adding to or removing birds messing up things.

It won't for sure make her stop but it is hilghy possible.

I only had one hen that was laying when the two roos I had in the pen started to fight. I immediately took care of it, but it was a week before that one hen started laying again.
