➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Looks like you got 5 celadon eggs??? I would recommend considering hatching them separately from the rest in the smaller incubator and then marking the chicks so you know which have Celedon gene :D
I would except it is full of pansy eggs.
I do plan on watching the hatch entirely so I will know which ones they are, I'm gonna put itty bitty bands on their ankles.
That isn't the only addiction you have. Don't forget to add hatching and auction addictions.

Yeah, after the eggs rested overnight I put the pansy in my GM, while I waited on the Hova to arrive. The Hova had a huge crack down one side of it when it got here, but I used some Redneck Ingenuity and fixed it up. Got it temp regulated and put the other 59 eggs in there this morning. I hope to have a decent hatch out, but since it'll be my 1st in the Hova I won't get my hopes up too much.

You might consider putting your celadon eggs in a little basket/cage or a mesh bag(s) or similar in case you’re not able to watch constantly.

Genius idea! I'll do that somehow. Might make a little box/enclosure out of 1/4" hardware cloth, if that would work?

So, I have 60 eggs shipping on Monday. I'm collecting eggs from the one hen that is laying regularly, so I expect to have 6 or 7 from my own covey to put in there as well. One of the eggs may already be gone since I didn't discover it until morning, and it was in the mid 30s overnight.
The research that I read indicates that 27°F is the temperature that will kill the embryo.

When I have more varieties of eggs that need to be separated for the hatch than I have hatching trays, I divide the hatching trays up with hardware cloth. I do know that some use a plastic version of hardware cloth while other use plastic baskets or the mesh bags.

I wouldn't have to worry about separating them until lockdown, so I have time to figure out what to use. What mesh bags do you mean?

Like the mesh laundry bags they sell for separating delicates in the wash. I suppose you could use something like the bags that onions are sold in.
