➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

So.. after googling and reading (what on earth did I do before Dr Google )

I don't think my yellow quail has Wry Neck. Possibly trauma from their crazy chasing of mealworms yesterday, or maybe impacted/damaged crop (although can't feel or see anything in there). I gave it a food/water slurry. Shall watch and wait. I feel I should probably cull it, as I fret about them suffering :hit

Thanks for the info on wry neck -had never heard of it before. Very interesting! :thumbsup
Just because it doesn't have the 'classic' wry neck profile, does not mean it's not wry neck. I have had chicks exactly like yours with the neck veiring off to the side....both pheasants and quail, and looking at your pic, it is wry neck. Most likely a vitamin deficiency in the breeding stock. I have never been able to get either my pheasants or quail cured...I have used every cure there is without any results.(Vit B, E, Selenium, Polyvisol, turmeric) etc.
Doesn't mean you won't have luck, I just never have had any luck in correcting wry neck.

Short version:
It's windy here today.
I had to leave home this morning.
My power went out and just came back on a little while ago.
Power out for a few hours.
Unknown as to just how cold the eggs got. :(

I'm just sick...waiting for the sun to go down so I can candle.
:hit

Nothing I can do at this point but wait.
:pop:fl
I don't think a couple of hours will hurt that much...as long as you got the internal egg temp back up to incubation temp.

Yeah, honestly, I haven't had luck either even if it was only with one chick, so take the "vitamins should cure it" advice I gave earlier with a grain of salt @Crazydoglady99. It's more what I've read than what I've experienced, too.

I had a power outage a few years ago, some of the chicks had already hatched before I got home. Others had just popped the top off and looked lifeless. Got the power back on and they revived and all made it...the temp in the bator was at 72°F when I discovered them in this situation.

Come on qualies......but in honor of Texas Kiki, I picked these up at the grocery store tonight...they are actually really good, kind of like compressed popcorn. I am on a self imposed diet and these are good for crunch to keep me away from cheetoos

I hope y'all wake up to a bator full of chicks.. this time difference is forcing me to be far more patient than usual!

In other news.. today's egg..
(Are you proud Kiki? I barely got any shell this time!!!)
