➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

I've been looking all over for any signs. The yard is fenced, and like I said, not that big. No sign of the bowl, no sign of broken glass. The one bird I found was under a papasan cushion that I have next to the garbage cans to throw out. I have looked under every possible bit of cover in the yard, so I'm pretty sure my favourite hen is gone. :he

It has to have been a person, but... Why?! :barnie

I even have a 10' soundwall on the back part of the yard. The fences on either side are 8' rather than the standard 6', so if she left the yard voluntarily, it had to have been under the fence, and I don't see anywhere that she could fit under it.
we have 8 ft fence around the yard and I have had a quail flush over the fence....i also had one flush and fly up onto the roof of the house and over into front yard. 1 was retrieved, the second was gone before we could get to the front yard. :hugs i hope you find her!

I just want Cots for meat & eggs, so I’m thinking wild type (pharaohs, right?) for ease of sexing. I like all the pretty colors and I’m not saying I couldn’t get drawn into that, but to start, I’ve been wondering about a few things I don’t think I’ve read here yet. If anyone can help, that would be great!
  1. Are jumbos significantly bigger than standards?
  2. Do I need a diverse gene pool for breeding? Can I get that by buying from different suppliers?
  3. How long do Cot hens remain fertile after breeding? Could I let their roo in with them for, say, a day once a week, to mitigate over-breeding injuries?
Thanks!
