➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

I thought you guys wanted me and everyone to get them!? :lau You guys are confusing :lau
:hugsI'm just messin' with ya!
:oops:I just feel like I've jumped into the deep end & the water is a tad bit over my head!:barnie
After RV living for almost 4 years I kinda went :celebratenuts (just a bit), getting the flocks & stock that I've been wanting.... building barns, pens, fencing, coops, and bla & bla & bla.
:rantI now see things from a different perspective, especially when the temperature is below freezing and waterers are frozen & feed troughs are empty...... :th
:oldAnywho... kiki's just making sure you're prepared before the arrival of bird &/or egg.:pop
Not you...just yet.
Only after you build cageS and find a buyer for extra males.
Is there such a thing as a "Buyer of extra males"? I think my freezer will be my extra male buyer!
See? You do want me to get them. :lau
Of course!

I want Buttons..... shhhhhh:oops:
I just want Cots for meat & eggs, so I’m thinking wild type (pharaohs, right?) for ease of sexing. I like all the pretty colors and I’m not saying I couldn’t get drawn into that, but to start, I’ve been wondering about a few things I don’t think I’ve read here yet. If anyone can help, that would be great!
  1. Are jumbos significantly bigger than standards?
  2. Do I need a diverse gene pool for breeding? Can I get that by buying from different suppliers?
  3. How long do Cot hens remain fertile after breeding? Could I let their roo in with them for, say, a day once a week, to mitigate over-breeding injuries?
Thanks!
You could always use Pharaoh hens and Egyptian roos to get the Sexlink offspring. Very easy to identify that way. My Pharoah hen is huge compared to the others. Someone here will have the weights for comparison.

:lau I figured you guys were just messing :hugs

Just confused me LOL

But yeah, I definitely want to be prepared too. I don’t think I’ll get them anytime soon. Or at least not until next year. Idk.

They seem like a lot of work for so little meat :lau and such tiny eggs :lau

But the eggs aren’t very common here so I could probably make decent money selling them lol

But I also want to move soon so not sure it’s smart acquiring a ton of animals haha

Though I’ve kinda been doing exactly that.

Added 5 more chickens this year and of course just hatched a bunch more almost 2 weeks ago (has it really been that long already!?) and I still want even more and of course the quail and now I’m considering geese too :lau

Probably won’t actually do that one, I’m sure they eat tons and I’m still kind of scared of them, but my friend’s been talking about them a lot lately and it has me wanting them hah I’ve always wanted ducks too so could maybe do both.

And of course I want goats and/or sheep too.

And a dog.

OH!!

And I did acquire a bunch more fish recently too.

So as you can see, I could easily go crazy on the animal additions too. I totally understand. :lau

But for me, I think I might wait a while on most if not all of these additions.

The cat, chickens, and fish will be hard enough to move hah

I probably won’t even be able to take the chickens with me. They’ll probably stay here

Maybe when you move you can swap over from chicken owner to quail owner, their feed & space requirements are so much less than chickens.

It's a dessert cup. It holds about one cup, max. Also yesterday was garbage pickup, so they should have been wandering around yesterday, not today.

I have a camera in my amazon wishlist. I should get it, but that means that I need to redo my wireless network to segment it out so only the security cameras are on one network and my domain, computers, tablets, phones, etc, are on a more secure network.
What kind of camera brand I mean?
