➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Initially I was really excited to save my large eggs from my Jumbo Wild Quail. However my 11 year old son said "I think they are double yolks" I was like no way they are supposed to be big. Sure enough I broke some huge ones open and they were all double yolks! No wonder the biggest ones were always clear when I incubated from the ones I bought. If someone has Jumbos and they have a huge egg that is clear would you break it open to see if its a double yolk? Pretty please??? :D

I had one a while back that was huge. It was a double yolk. If it's over 16 or 17 grams, it's most likely a double yolk.

I believe that @Kiki set a double yolk quail egg that started to develop but in the end it failed.

So not sure when my eggs will arrive but I’m trying to put together a lesson plan of sorts.

I thought at one point someone was putting together a compilation of chick and adult pictures by variety/color. Or maybe I made this up. Anyone know?:idunno
i have a few but haven’t really kept up with it like i should.....if you want to take pics as part of your lesson plan, I will gladly help you with identification!

went to pick up feed today and could not resist temptation any longer.....I brought home 1 cayuga and 1 rouen duckling!! They are quick and quack! They are currently learning to be quailies housed with my 2+ week old pansy fee chicks. my guess is that they are approximately 3-5 days old. soooo cute!! now for the duck peeps, what age can I let them start swimming? and what temp water?? will get pics soon!!

As long as the water is warm and they can dry off before getting cold they can swim after a couple days. I let mine swim supervised in the warm bathwater for 10 minutes and then put them under a heat lamp after I dry them off a bit with a paper towel.

Does anyone on this thread have Button Quail hatching eggs I could get shipped to me around late April? Between 6 and 12 probably
where are you?? i got my button quail eggs from purely poultry and had very good hatches overall....I ordered 12 and received 20. Nabiki got hers from a local source and had good luck as well.
