They have. So yes, I think yours will. Something was mentioned that the quail chicks needed to be taken away from the chickens. Chickens killing the quail or quail escaping.Quick question do you think a broody chicken hen will hatch quail eggs?
Yes, I rest the quail before cooking. Check the stiffness. I think the last time was 2 days. I process at 8 weeks although the males start getting hormones close to 6 weeks. When you process quail... do you rest them like you do chicken (I do 5 days for chicken)? It’s getting close to that time. July 8th this set will be 6 weeks and the Myshire set are 6 weeks on June 22nd.
I haven’t heard the white quail crow yet so I’m unsure if it’s male or female.
Am I supposed to switch from the 24% quail feed to a layer feed? Or can I just give crushed up shells on the side?
Hmmm. I only have pellets of the 16% layer highly doubt my quail can eat it. I’m going to look for layer crumble my next trip to TSC. My DH hates crumble but I’ll tell him to suck it upYes, I rest the quail before cooking. Check the stiffness. I think the last time was 2 days. For egg layers, Zack says 16% protein is fine. I'm using 20% layer feed for the 8+ week olds. They will appreciate oyster shells and grit on the side, but not required.
