I like these for the babies and I even use them for the big dummies.

There's not as much room for them to dirty them.

My lone chick had curled toes on one foot. I taped them, and when I checked him a couple hours later, he had somehow broken his leg, I guess trying to stumble around with the shoe on. He wasn’t even crying about it, but I culled him.

Didn’t get a chance to watch till just now, but what are you looking for when you candle? Just veins and movement? How do you know when they are quiters?

I’m feeling so awful right now...today I got two baby Celadon quail and my 7 year old left the door open and my dog ate them. I’m so very sad, they were so sweet and gentle unlike my other baby quails and my daughter feels like the “worst person on the planet”. I know these things happen, but I hate being the reason and I’m so upset with myself that I didn’t secure them better. I was just giving them time to settle before trying to integrate them :-( I’ve been crying for over an hour...I just needed to tell someone. I’m so very sad.

Thank you Hard lesson for us all, but I think my daughter will understand better the importance of doing what I ask when it comes to the birds. Poor sweet babies. :-(

I just completed a full candle of this batch. I removed 6 clears (3 numbered and 3 refrigerator eggs) 2 left in that are maybes and I can’t tell anything about the button eggs.

My pheasant chicks are getting “bouncy”. I’m going to have to get them moved soon to something with a lid or I fear they will escape.
