I just took this video just to show somebody else how overrated high heated brooders are.
I have never ever kept chicks at 95 or 100°.
That is insane to me.

If I keep mine below 95, I end up with quail mosh pit at the warm end. The best thing is always to let the chicks tell you whether or not the temperature is right.

I just went out to check on them and they're not dead yet so I think they're going to be okay.

I put the napkin down to try and keep the dirt out of the water and they've already dirtied it up.

This is the first time that I have completely covered the entire floor of the cage with dirt.

I usually leave an area uncovered so I can put the water over there but this is also the first time that I am putting this small of chicks out and I didn't want their little feets to fall through the hardware cloth.

I put an ad on CL for quail and parakeets…..I’ve gotten 2 hits so far for quail
Only 1 scammer hit for parakeets but since they’ve stopped pet advertising, I lumped them in with quail so listed with livestock
