That's called rosetta lacing and it can be found over almost any color, but yours looks like it might be a rosetta wild-type, which I have not actually seen More pics in better light!

Thank you! I should have included in my post above that this was based on day 5 candling...going to try to resist candling again until at least day 10...but it’s hard!

Oh yeah, I would expect some variance then. Day 10-14 they'll get more uniform and the ones that don't probably wont hatch.

And a lot of people use it interchangeably with red range/tibetan as a color! It's just found on that color most often. There is SO much conflicting info out there.

I don't have any red rosettas at the moment but I do have a few charcoal. Yours almost looked similar if it's not pharoah, I would be interested in a better pic of it's base color.


Compare these guys to my avatar, which is a similar base color but without the lacing (although these two might *also* carry red genes, they're a little odd).

Beautiful! I'm not sure what I would classify that as. It's kind of halfway between tibetan and charcoal like my couple of ones. Not sure if they're all carrying a different gene or multiple genes or what. I bred the charcoal rosetta male not long ago and he threw one mini version of himself and one that looks like it might be carrying both charcoal and red without the lacing.

While handling a few quail this morning, I noticed one definite male. I was sad just because, but glad I could sex it already.
