āž” Quail Hatch Along🄚

of course me liking your post is kinda hypocritical lmao....i haven’t found my big girl britches yet either!
Honestly with a paper towel wrapped around them you hardly feel anything. I used pruning sheers at first but it felt like it was harder and more traumatic to the birds if it the sheers slipped at all and you didn't get a good clean cut. Cervical dislocation is much faster and more humane..... and super easy with these little guys.

I am dying laughing AT you.
The glove is extremely hilarious to me.
I’m quite paranoid about my hands.

You know what...I'm think I NG you are on to something here.
I need to look back at my photos but my females seen to get bigger before the males too.

Why oh why does my phone autocorrect thinking like that?
I remember girls are bigger, but I have not looked at size yet.

Yes :/ Have very sharp shears.

I would whack, pith, or dislocate if I were more confident in my ability to do it right the first time. On average I think it has been more humane for me to behead to start.

I am excited to have Quail Nirvana tested and running. Tis a chute with a remote triggered 30# rat trap at the far end with mealworms as a last treat/bait. Going to require LOTS of testing and fiddling before I am confident it is more humane/super accurate, though.

@muddy75 ! I no longer have to drive several hundred miles and kidnap some of your pearls in the dead of night! :p

No yellow feathers on little black and white dude yet :fl
in the pic you called it a weirdo, it looks just like my pearl around that age! i really think it will stay pure pearl!! oh and that would actually be several THOUSAND miles! :lau

I know i'm late to the party but dang Kiki, pull up your big girl britches, hold em in one hand and pull the heads off with the other. You can drop them in the sink after that if you want, they don't make a mess. It is fast.
Yeah right.
No way. You are nuts.

You are smart. I am lazy. I shouldn't be, I've worked with fish my whole life too. Want to horrify yourself for a while, look up "fishkeeper's disease"....
When I bought Duckling fish, I was clear about keeping her hands out of the tank when she had cuts.
