Candled tonight (day 10) and am assuming this is the dreaded blood ring I’ve read so much about? Is this also what would be considered a “quitter”?

That’s what I thought; bummer. Started with 24 eggs, 11 appear to be infertile (nothing ever developed), had 13 developing (up until today) with 3 of those (so far) becoming quitters...now down to only 10 with 4 days to go until lockdown...was hoping for a 50% hatch rate (since this is my first time hatching) but at this point I’ll be happy with 25%!

Yes, looks like. Had a recent shipped batch end up with a bunch of those. Yank em before they start leaking imo I had to prune that batch a little on the liberal side but they stopped exploding after that so it was worth it.

Sorry about your duds! I hope your hatch rate is still great but let me know if not; I might not be that far away.

i intentionally set this hatch for early in the week....if they pop while I’m at work, I can’t be tempted to mess with anything for no 3,4!!

Okay candlers, I have a question.

I candled a few eggs last night just to compare the 1 egg from my birds to those I purchased. In a couple of the eggs I swear there was movement, like a person who moves their face away from a bright light suddenly in their face. I could make out some veins in some too.

Did I jostle the eggs, or are there live embryos in there? Last night was 3.5 days.
