➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Congrats and good luck with the little one.
:fl

Thank you! It seems to be out of the woods this morning, the little stump absorbed and dried out pretty quick and healed over completely within about a day with some topical antibiotics. It's running around with the others happily today. Thank goodness! He's probably the cutest little sucker I've hatched, and my only tux baby so far. I'll still monitor for infection for a while but I think he'll make it.

Chick #4 just joined the mix, and three others are sitting pipped fully, tho this batch is frequently taking 24+ hours to do anything more.

I might actually be able to set eggs before the end of this year.

Yay!!! I had a male that was too sweet to get the job done and putting his brother in for competition did the trick. They were raised together and didn't ever really fight, just competitive-bred, which worked out for me. I'm glad yours is finally playing along!

Glad to hear the baby is doing well.

I was really thinking I made a big mistake by butchering the three makes so soon. I should have waited. :he

But you were hungry.
I was worried that they were going to start fighting.
I was really trying to avoid having to deal with any injured quailies.

I'm kicking myself now because 2 or the 3 I offed had big balls...way back then!

its hatch day!! :fl no early hatches.....i’m so impatient!
it was warm here yesterday afternoon so i let all the chicks have some outside time while i cleaned the brooder. on a side note, I’m convinced that my welsummer chick is a cockerel so was wondering if possible to keep him to get an olive egger?
