➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

You aren't sitting there watching the bator non stop?:barnie
actually no....had a full day at the office, a friend dropped of his buck to be skinned quartered and hung in our cooler, and we had to get our turkey plucked and in brine for thursday. he dressed at 18.5 lbs at 14-15 weeks. had planned to process more of our deer in the cooler but ran out of daylight and energy! just realized i still have to get hunting clothes washed and gear together for tomorrow as the ice storm stripped the cover from our blind so we are back to climbers

OMG I have not started to brine my bird. What the heck have I been doing. Thanks for reminding me to do it.

i ended up with 6 hatched and healthy. i removed the shells from the 6, separated the remaining eggs into groups (7 non-fertile, 6 developed with normal air cells, and 4 that didn’t look fully developed). my question is how long should I give them before I give up? they are 4 hours into day 19.

Day 24. Give them a few more days.

24?
My general rule is 48 hours from the first hatch, if they were all set together and same breed, etc.
unless any unusual circumstances like low temps, power outage etc
:barnie
I just made up a number. It won't hurt to wait a couple extra days. I never want to open a fake quitter again so I plan on waiting a few extra days for sure. 24 is probably too much though you are right.

thanks @Texas Kiki and @WVduckchick I will get rid of the 7 tomorrow and give the others a few more days! i got the HAL chicks moved today so will clean brooder and move the 6 in with Hoppy tomorrow. went out to the run tonight and my big chickens were all confused! somehow their door got shut so 3 invaded the littles’ coop and 3 were roosted on top with the turkeys! I managed to get them back in their own coop but once they go to bed they don’t like to be messed with so they weren’t happy about it at all!!

I just collected 4 eggs. 4 new layers?!?!? I collected 3 yesterday.
