What about varieties typically sold at Walmart?

The 1' to 2' and the 2' to 3' sizes are still available.

You have to be careful with the ones from Walmart since the Walmarts around here do not tend to carry ones that will grow here. It can either be because of the actual zone being too cold for the plants or inappropriate soil requirements. Plants/trees/shrubs that require an acidic soil will not survive our alkaline soil.

Wouldn’t the soil full of poop and pee tend to be alkaline? If so, that’s no bueno.

Soil "full of poop and pee" will be hot from excessive nitrogen. Some plants don't have a problem with that but beans which are nitrogen fixing plants do not do well in areas that are really high in nitrogen. It did not seem to bother my tomatoes but definitely killed my beans. I do not know how well grapes would handle a "hot" soil.

I have the quail and ducks sectioned off the same area. The ducks would annihilate those!

Little shrink-wrap did not make it I think he burned up too much energy too early.

The other 15 are doing well, and there's another mid-hatch. I hope none others are stuck. At least I will handle it differently from the get go and maybe that will help.

Hard to tell in that lighting but if the light spots are yellowish it's an italian, pure white and it's a pearl. In-between I call "dirty pearls"
