Do tell. How did this happen? Where did you get 6 adult quail from? Didn't the seller sex them for you? Are any crowing? Of course, you are aware that 4 boys will fight and abuse the 2 girls? Purpose?

Poultry Auction I think one is crowing maybe? And the 2 suspected boys haven’t fought yet. They are 5-6 weeks old if that helps.

about 20 minutes into hatch day and I’ve got some quail pippers!! this rain flooded everything again just got back inside from morning feeding. Its got to dry up and me build faster.....evidently I need to do some quail maintenance very soon and take out some males because in last 24 hours there was a lot of feather picking and 1 little white quail got trampled/drowned in the crossfire! lots of plucked backs and butts.....I did catch my broody off the nest long enough to remove all unmarked eggs!

Hmm. Not the first time I've been backwards. 6 weeks - they should be good for another couple. Mine waited until 8 weeks to start crowing.

So how big is the cage? Final or expedient?

Something startled them. They will 'freeze' and make that noise to warn the others that theres danger close at hand.

Lost a second quailie to this horrible cold flooding! Looks like they were both white (but all of them so muddy hard to tell for sure) I brought 1 Italian inside that was in bad shape. Washed the mud off in the sink, hubby dried with hairdryer and I put him in the brooder tote on the heating pad with food. Tried to give nutridrench but wouldn’t take it yet. Will try again and check everyone else again when we get back from dinner. First egg popped...silkie x buff Orpington.

Does anyone know anything on how to sell quail eggs? I was thinking about selling Coturnix quail eggs for consumption and don't know what permits and such need to sell eggs.

I sell to "family and friends". Not a formal business. Are you in this for profit? The research I did says unless you go whole hog commercial, eggs sales are tough. So this is to support the chickens. They almost pay for their own food in summer. Call it a hobby. A chicken egg customer said they are interested in baby eggs for the children. So we will see how that goes. The only ones that I know of around here advertise on craigslist.

I had just filled up the duck pool and the dogs were circling the fence. So that’s probably it. Thank you for explaining. I sure appreciate all your expertise!
