➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Feral cats can do more damage to the quail population than any other predator.

Yeah, I’ve heard about feral and even just indoor/outdoor cats or barn cats decimating wildlife populations, all wildlife, which is one of many reasons a lot of people advocate for keeping cats strictly indoors (although the main reason of course are all the hazards to themselves) and that’s definitely bad but I didn’t realize they were so dangerous to people or kids either. I mean, I’ve heard of cat scratch fever, but didn’t think it was so common. And definitely didn’t think of it or cat poo being an issue with kids. Now I’m kind of worried because of Luna. I mean, she’s always been fine and kept up to date on vaccinations and I’ve never gotten anything but now I’m paranoid. She’s only almost 9 so young enough to potentially be around if I have kids but now it seems like I may have to get rid of her or leave her at my parents house if I ever do? :hit :hit

Nooo no. :hugs
A pregnant woman cannot change the litter box or be around poop. Be careful when gardening or playing anywhere the cat could have pooped.
Be sure all cat inflicted wounds are thoroughly cleaned immediately.
If that cat wants to sleep in the bassinet with your baby, go for it as long as the cat isn’t on the baby’s face. I only had one cat sleep on my head.

I would not get rid of my cats for kids. A single healthy cat is not the same as many in and out and all about. Just keep their claws trimmed, don't leave them unsupervised with kids, clean scratches well, and keep kiddos out of the poop. Immunocompromised individuals are going to have the potential to have a more worrisome time but getting rid of her would be serious overkill :)

Okay good! This is a huge relief because I was getting terribly upset just thinking about it. I love my little Luna and I don’t know what I would do without her. :hit thank you both! :hugs

But yeah, I definitely clean all scratches/wounds immediately. I’m actually a bit paranoid/obsessive about that lol not just cat but dog, cat, chicken, etc. I’ve gotten a lot of dog and chicken scratches this weekend because it’s shorts weather again and all the dogs I watch and my baby chicks like to jump up on me lol I wash everything and usually also go crazy with peroxide or neosporin  no problems with sanitation lol

The claws, I’ve tried to trim a couple times but probably needs to be done again. First time wasn’t successful at all, second time I got much sharper clippers lol

Anyways thank you both. I love Luna to pieces and I am also not the type to just give away an animal, even if I had a baby or moved or whatever, I’d rather sleep in my car than rehome them, so I don’t think I would ever be able to anyway. So I am glad I won’t even have to consider it.

It's good to be a little paranoid about that!

Aforementioned rabbit-induced wound in hand is not feeling or looking great despite flushing with iodine immediately after :duc Rabbits are gross gross gross things. I'm not trying to pick up my 12 lb doe without leather gloves when I've waited too long to trim her nails and she has suddenly has velociraptor claws again.

Hm I suppose that’s true!

And wow that’s awful!
