➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Just started lockdown on the evening of day 15. Out of 36 eggs I have 24 left. A few look a little too light in color but most are pretty dark. Some of the air cells look kind of irregular in shape and a little larger than I think they should but I really don’t have any experience with this. Humidity has typically run between 35-45% without added water. I put a small dish of water in tonight hoping to bump it to the 65-70% I got during my test run. Does this sound right? Any advice other than be patient?

Sounds good to me.
Some air cells may look larger because they are starting to draw down...which is perfect.

Now is the fun part.
The waiting game.

I personally have had better luck keeping lockdown humidity under 60 with quail

No...your eggs are 2nd generation ones too.
If the original source is the first generation, your first hatch is the second generation. Those produced from your eggs (Nutty) cannot be the same generation as your originals. His and the ones that you hatched from your eggs are the third generation.

Let me see if I got this.

My very first shipped quail eggs are F1.
The eggs I hatched and Nutty hatched would be F2 then right?
Because all of my set eggs and Nutty's we're laid by my F1s.
Not laid by my F2s.
I have one (one of my twins) that was laid by my F2S so that one quail would be F3 right?

Speaking of generations, at about how many generations should you introduce new blood to your flock? I'm way early asking this question since I haven't even received my first batch of eggs yet, but I like to plan ahead.
We think the earlier the better but we (some of us) are still trying to figure this out by doing.
