➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

:wee:celebrate:celebrate:celebrate

I can't wait.
Just two or three will be enough.

You made me curious about weight gains. So these things hatched 2 days ago and on average have gained 4 grams! The albino weighs 3 gs less than anyone else i tried. The hatch day i checked out of curiosity they were 8 and 9 gs each. The chicken chicks on the other hand have only gained 1 g!

Egg starting weights:
16g x2
15 x2
14 x5
13 x5
12 x1

Chick hatch weights:
11g x4
10 x6
9 x4
8 x1
Very interesting.
I can not believe they are the same weight as my twins.
I thought for sure they would be bigger.

Ok tomorrow is chopping block day.....I’m mainly taking out males. I’m thinking I should keep the falb fee and possibly silvers. May keep a dirty pearl. Going to cut Italian, Egyptian, pharaoh, and pansy for sure. Also have a beautiful scarlet tuxedo that I’m up in the air about! Collected 2 dozen eggs today so thinking I should keep 4-5 males for breeding ratio. Any thoughts??

So I have two more that have pipped but are at a standstill. Not sure how long these specific eggs have been pipped with all the other egg activity but it is day 19 of incubation.

Any thoughts? Leave them alone? Try to help a bit?
I would let them be. I’ve assisted hatches and usually no good outcome. The fighters will make it out on their own. Day 19 is perfectly acceptable in hatch range
