➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

I have a baby with a clawed foot. I’ve had feet uncurl on their own in 48 hours, so I’m chill right now.
However, I have skimmed whenever you guys mention it. My apologies. How on earth do you put a shoe on an ant?

It ain't easy!

My little curled foot uncurled without any help after 4 days or so of running around.

To put a shoe on an ant cut 2 pieces of masking tape. While using all 4 of your hands, hold the chick still, spread the toes, stick the tape to the bottom and then stick the tape to the top. Trim most of the overhang but leave enough that it must hold the foot the correct way. Easy peasy, Louisey. :D

Remember that nothing succeeds like a chicken with no teeth.

Since we all probably have domestic animals too, I think it’s worth sharing that Chewy.com has Frontline on sale for 20% off. I got a 6pk of medium for $52.

Do they have the cat stuff?? Or other brands? May have to get some haha

We still have 3 months left I think and she doesn’t really go outside much anymore but always good to have. Or I may tell DB for the dogs

I'm starting to see more variety in this last hatch—with wing feathers coming in, it's only a matter of time until I know their true colors.

2 days after this pic, they're about 10x as skittish and 50% bigger.

One of the striped ones.

1/3 of my own birds' chicks—hope they're a girl!

This red/brown one is a crier (and a nervous pooper, apparently).

I need a different setup. Cage in a dog house is terrible on my knees.

I kept the largest from B#1&2 and one of the hens is noticeably larger than her sisters. If the largest here is a hen, may keep her for the breeding project also.

The myshire eggs were also varied in sizes. Occasionally, I'll get an egg that large out of the layers coop. I understand that mixing the genetics that until the lines are defined, results will vary. This gambling seems like fun.
