➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Me too. My eggs are supposed to ship two weeks from today.

Edit: I also want to order some of these, but I am going to make myself wait until my first batch is hatched and feathered before even thinking about more.

That’s exciting!! I haven’t ordered any yet but I really want to. I have to build a hutch first. Got the incubator in March though so I really want to get them already. :hit
My eggs ship in 11-12 days :celebrate
@CoturnixComplex are you ready for the egg-pocalypse???

I’ve been inspired by your record keeping to create a spreadsheet tracking hatches. I’ve been taking some notes but it didn’t occur to me to number eggs individually and chart data that way.

I love Excel and Google Sheets. I keep meaning to transfer my paper notes to one of them but haven't had time.

Morning everybody!

Found 8 quail eggs yesterday. They started with 3 on Sunday and we are up to 8 already. WooHoo! I think I'm going to collect today and tomorrow and then set them in the incubator. I am just shocked at how fast they went from tiny peepers to egg laying machines.

Who on here keeps them overwinter in a colder climate? I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to manage this winter. Our winters are brutal. We have weeks of very negative temps and last winter we had insane amounts of snow. Will they freeze into little quailsickles if I keep them on the ground, but covered? Should I build another coop?

i’ve gotten a few from myshire assorted hatches and have 30 coming tomorrowish with my jumbos! great birds!!

good thing I placed order for a 3rd bator today!!! i just “accidentally” won another auction!!! this one is 30 jumbos with 30 color choice! (got it at $36 which means color is basically half-price). i asked zack if celadon possible as color choice.....waiting to hear back!!!! also threw today’s haul under the silkies (20 more eggs) candled eggs under them while they off nest and pulled only 1 clear so that means I’m running almost 100% fertility on my homegrowns!!! couldn’t tell for sure which ones were the eggs due this weekend so left them all to hatch “naturally”
probably gonna break broody by July cuz my girls are looking a bit “thin” and haven’t laid in weeks now. ????? how long is okay to let them keep setting?? I love my girls and don’t want to kill them!!! with new bator I will have capacity to incubate 140 eggs at one time.
