Is it normal for quail to suddenly stop laying every day? It’s only one egg, but it’s a little odd that it’s only one egg, and not missing daily.
They are 16 weeks.

i know i wasn’t tagged....but I have found that waiting until day 14.5-15 has increased my hatch rates....(in addition to not “hovering” and trying to intervene too early”. my hatch that i’m about to call is 62 eggs in bator and 9 eggs under broody silkies. The silkies hatched 7 of 9 with 1 loss post-hatch. incubator is 38/62 with 1 loss post-hatch so far and 2 late-hatch “gimpys”.....(i haven’t done actual “head count” yet, I’m just going by #unhatched eggs and # i’ve deemed DIS and/or dead hatchlings)Hey @Texas Kiki and @RUNuts do you guys think I should lock down on day 14 or day 15?
Longer the better, with nothing to back it up. Is it time already? I guess it is since you sat a little earlier than us.Hey @Texas Kiki and @RUNuts do you guys think I should lock down on day 14 or day 15?
Seems I was told they are upset able. Has something changed? Is it normal for quail to suddenly stop laying every day? It’s only one egg, but it’s a little odd that it’s only one egg, and not missing daily.

Nothing has changed.Seems I was told they are upset able. Has something changed?
When I combined the 2 batches, they stopped laying. Then I changed coops and waited. Getting 4 eggs from 6 hens after 22 days. Got 1 egg a day for most of the 22 days.
Right after a chicken egg customer wanted to start buying the quail eggs. Oops.I think we have it figured out now.
nothing?? even weather etc? prior to this last rain/flood, I was getting 2 doz every day like clockwork...now it’s abou 18ish (i didn’t count) but just like chickens they can “take a break” without notice occasionally so I wouldn’t get too worried yetNothing has changed.
Nothing has changed.
You lawn mowed some bunnies? It could be the killer bunnies. I accidentally took care of that while mowing today.
The weather has been up and down just like it’s been all along. We don’t have the heatwave or heavy rain others are experiencing.
