➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Oh no! Why?!
Just jostling them around and changing the environment. Probably just overreacting......I noted humidity when I took hygrometer out of shed @47% and have attempted to get same in imcubator....tomorrow is actually day 17 so I just need to take a breath and go to bed!!

I decapitate (or do CD) and both achieve satisfactory bleeds. The broth is quite a bit darker than that from storebought CX, but the meat still tastes and looks fine.
I haven't tried bleeding them out. I don't trust my knives to be sharp enough.
Yeah, I know what you mean. I’m honing like, every other bird. Then trying to open a path between the feathers. I didn’t think mine was sharp enough, but then I accidentally touched the blade to my finger. Oops. I guess I’m not as incompetent a knife sharpener as I thought.

I saw a YouTube video made by an older couple who wanted to start raising quail. They bought a carton of eggs from the grocery store and popped them in their brand new incubator. I don’t remember precisely, but they did hatch enough to get their operation going. Seems to me it was over 50%. They didn’t seem to know that refrigerating the eggs was something undesirable.

Several utubers are getting watchers by getting Trader Joe free range eggs and hatching them. Kiki does it with balut, but she candles at the store for life to increase her chances. Kiki is smart.

Hatchings are all over the place. I'm sure egg handling and source all play into it.

I am amazed by the utuber amazement. I can't tell if they are acting or are genuinely astounded. Some of them are over the top and need acting lessons. Entertainment.

No I don't think moving them hurt one bit.:hugs:fl

Hmmmm. I just picked up a few dozen eggs from Sara last night in ~90+ degree weather where they may have already started incubating, drove them up ~5,000 ft, and now they are sitting at 70 until I get the bator setup. I feel as though I should be taking bets on them too. We shall see. Imma slap them in my slightly more reliable medium one today and see what happens.

I also have two new jumbo hens and a beautiful little golden tuxedo male I am so excited about. Pics tomorrow!

Incidentally, she confused me. She's hatched sandy, roux-ish birds from equally weird, almost-red-range-but-nots.

Too many colors! :th

I'm glad I'm not the only one confused. I just want more of that color. But they won't cooperate. I hope the eggs hatch for you.
