➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

I can't remember who but someone a while back in your Balut thread posted about the quail eggs being hard to see development in. If I am remembering correctly, eggs that gave off a pink/red glow when candled are developing and ones that give off a green/blue glow are not developing. I hope that I am remembering correctly.
I remember this, I think it was @WVduckchick that had said this over there.

I'm kind of jealous, I moved the younger ones outside this weekend. The males are starting to call. I separated out the males I could tell for sure and I've been watching to separate out the ones I can't feather sex. I woke up to an awful chorus of "crickets" the last two mornings, lol. Mine are SO loud!

He makes noise once or twice every third day.

I have caught him mating a few times now.
None of the hens are missing feathers on thier heads so he much have figured out how to be nice pretty quickly.

I suck at looking for bullseyes. I gave that up for good.

I never figured out the color difference vs fertile or not. :idunno

One thing I said was a bullseye is easier to see in an opened egg after the egg sits for a couple days, rather than fresh out the vent.

:barnie:eek: It wasn't you?

I'll find the post.
Hold.

i can’t believe how fast these guys grow! mine are just reaching 1 week now and seem to have doubled in size already. what is good age to start figuring out genders?
I'll have to read back on my posts to double check but I want to say I guessed pretty good at around 5 weeks.
I'll look.
