This is controlled by the celadon gene! I had a blue layer - she got eaten by a bear :S I have one chick from one of her eggs, and since it's a recessive I'm hoping within ~three months (gotta love quail - bird guppies) I'll have blue eggs again.

I find this hilarious. Kiki - this means they breed like guppies and guppies are VERY prolific breeders. Anyone can do it. I have hope that I will succeed. Yes, I have salty tap water and the guppies died, but I have hope for quail.

I joined a local poultry group on FB, and someone posted yesterday they were looking for quail... I responded and they want 60. Gonna set a full incubator tonight, after triple confirming that they really want that many. I am afraid they will flake and I'll be stuck with a ton of babies.

Some of mine that are 7 weeks now hatched out of blue eggs! I can't wait to see if they lay blue.
