➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

I've got the same thought.

BUT I should wait until the coop is complete and later in January... ;)

maybe. :D
I really want to just give this guy a couple of girls to concentrate on. I need to finish another cage...soon.
I need to make sure he doesn't know what he is doing before I off him.

Hast thou
1. checked for foamy stuff? We didn't get the memo.
2. monitored the alleged rooster and informed him in the proper procedure to produce progeny?
3. informed the alleged rooster of the consequences of not performing?

BTW - guess who is practicing his operatic aspirations this week? I need to move. He's got a gorgeous voice. OTOH, he is chasing the older girls... at 15 weeks old.
We had to separate out our young cockerel today. He’s basically scalping all the hens, and our older rooster just watches.

If/when you do off him, make sure to take pictures of his testes! I’m curious if they are maybe smaller than a normal cock’s.

im starting to guess genders on my thanksgiving quail babies! difficult to do by myself as they all want to turn against the back wall if they think i’m looking! but looks to be 50% right now. 10 day candling looks great for 8/9 chicken eggs in the bator right now. one rir looks to be a dud! i’m trying to wait until january and see what my quail are doing before I order any more eggs. planning to do a butchering day next sunday as mother-in-law asked for a turkey for Christmas. 2 turkeys on the block and maybe a few of the chickens as the oldest are 20+weeks and no eggs yet!!

so upset at the loss of 1 of my quail overnight! i hadn’t my waterer too close to the edge and 1 evidently got hung in the cage and died trying to get loose. i moved both the feeder and waterer to the center of the cage.
