➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

ThIS is what I want. I want this PID thing.
They are readily available on eBay. You just have to be sure to get one that measures to 0.1°F or C and make sure that it will also control to +/-0.1°F or C. Be careful because many of them claim to be able to control +/-1.0° which means they will have a temperature swing of 2°.

Once you get one, your husband can get one of his electrician buddies to wire it in for you.

The Mex knows wires. He can do it. :old

I'll dig around for one tomorrow and run it by you first. Before I jump.

@R2elk find me a link to your PID thing please! Pretty please.
This is the one that I bought for a hatcher that I was building. I can't say how well it works because I never finished the project.

The one I got for my cabinet incubator is a Herpstat 1 Basic which works absolutely wonderful for me. I could easily justify it for my cabinet incubator but not for a cheap incubator. It allowed me to calibrate the temperature sensor and input the correction so that I just set the desired temperature and forget about it.

while I wasn’t intending on a staggered hatch, I woke up to 7 chicks in the bator this morning with a couple more pipped and zipping!! at a glance all are looking good except 3. the one from the 1st batch looks great in the bator but doesn’t do as well when i remove it and 1 we assisted last night due to shrink wrap still hasn’t been able to stand for very long successfully. 3rd one is getting around but is still showing significant splay and curled toes. Today is my last day at the office this week so I’m not going to mess with the bator until we get home this evening.

Sounds like excellent timing of the hatch. Right before 3 days off.
This batch is due on a Tuesday. Kiki made me start them 2 days before I thought I should. Ok, I got a tinsy bit excited too.

You're confusing me!
I can't learn how your bator works now.
I'm still learning mine. But crap...now I really want a new bator...that I can set and walk away from. Do you have any idea how easy that would be to use!
My home made incubator uses an Inkbird thermostat, bought on eBay for about $15. Controls the temp by turning on/off the heating lights. Once you get it calibrated, you don't have to mess with it. It's great :D. It's probably not as accurate as the $60 one, but it works for me.
