āž” Quail Hatch Along🄚

11 days old and doing great! ALL 47 OF 'EM. Starting to fly a bit. I'm worried they'll escape the brooder before the heat lamp is high enough for my to put a piece of HC across the opening in the top. The are already flying up to the top, just 3 more inches and they'll be out. :barnie
Be glad you don't have pheasants...they would already be flying out 3 days ago! :old :lau

Thankfully the brooder is a large rubbermaid trough that is really deep or these quail would be all over the sun room already...
That's what I use for my pheasants, when their inside...came home one morning after work and the whole house had pheasants running around in it. I forgot to put the top over it, I thought I had at least a couple of more days. :he :lau

10 quail equal about 1.5 chickens or one duck.

I have a few pages to catch up but that is the quandary I have about doing quails. 10 times the more life’s / heads to take off.....I understand the qualie meat may taste different but not sure if worth the stress......I have no problem offing a asshole rooster, but processing others still pulls at the heart strings even though I know it is the way of life...

What are they?

This is just a screen shot on my phone, but you put the end of the egg in the hole, the other side cuts off the top and you pour out the egg.

I got mine via Amazon.

It is at 75 and 380 tucked back at the north west corner. I don’t go there very often. I prefer the
Smaller independent store in Leonard. I do have to to to TSC for some things they don’t carry.
Wow, they still have Gebo's? Back when I was a kid it was called Blacklands, went to school with the kid who's dad started it.
It was in the south part of McKinney, at the intersection of Hwy 5 and Business 5. They moved it out to Hwy 21 and Hwy 75 in late 1979...after it was sold out to Gebo's. They became way higher after Gebo's took over.

When I was looking them up, I saw that they actually have an ā€œegg eating setā€ for all eggs that includes a fake egg that lets you know how cooked your eggs are. Not sure if it’s accurate for quail to emu, but it’s a cute idea.
