I’m getting you one of these to say thanks...

Beautiful.... I love green eggs!!

It’s so pretty! How does it compare to a melanistic pheasant? I think those are beautiful!
Green eggs and ham? :lau
Seriously, Pc. colchicus is a larger bird, 4 1/2 to 6lbs. versus 4 to 4 1/2 lbs. for melanistics. Melanistics lay a 'true' olive color egg, a real dark green/olive and sometimes more brownish than olive. I have Green, Blue and Black melanistics, and different color variants among them. They sometimes 'throw' more towards the phenotypical common ring necked pheasant. Sometimes they will have a ring others won't or they might have a broken ring around the neck. And sometimes it's hard to tell if its melanistic or the common Chinese ring necked as that's how the 1st melanistic happened...a true mutation of the common ring necked pheasant on the Rothschilds Estate.
The Southern Black neck's eggs are more blue than green/olive. Temperment's about the same.
Sorry, rambling on...this is a quail thread not a pheasant thread, I apologize Kiki.
