We just cooked up a homemade (not by me, which makes it even better) pork sausage skillet, snarfed it because it was amazing, stuffed a fresh rabbit in the instant pot with red wine and herbs and veggies and will have it for dinner, and tomorrow I have about 10 birds to butcher and then shuck and devour honey-mustard style.

Everyone except you guys think I am nuts but I think I have such a rewarding hobby.

You should definitely definitely get yellows.

In fact, you might need some of *each kind* of yellow.

I have seven hatched and scampering around the brooder. Two are working their way out. This is the slowest hatch I’ve had for quail. Me. nekkid is still hanging out in the chick mosh pit. His dark feathers have fluffed up, he just doesn’t have any yellow feathers!

Unfortunately the colors don’t hatch out true.....60-75% based on what I’ve learned so far on color genetics. out of my 13 pearls, I’ve got 1 that’s more snowy, 1 falb-fee, and 1 italian “dirty pearl”. sorry pics not perfect.....and cage is a mess! Hopefully clean tomorrow!

Here is the quail someone gave us. They are pretty beat up. And I separated the coturnix from the bobwhites. They don’t get a long. There are a couple more hiding but they all look like one of these. Are they males or females?
