➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Vaseline will grease things up but it will not loosen the dried membrane stuck to the chick. I have found that using a paper towel wet with 100°F water gently applied will moisten the dried membrane which then can be pulled away from the chick.

Thank you! I will try that. At this rate I am going to have to give the poor greasy dear a bath before he will fluff up :/

I have a baby!!! :jumpy

It's so hard to see any pips on these eggs. I was thinking they should hatch late tonight or tomorrow. I was thinking a bit later even since they got cooled over night last week.
Is he black!? I want black babies too! Black and yeller.

Also, may I just say I have never had to peel one out like this before and it is TERRIFYING trying not to rip their tiny baby skin D:

I had one hatch fine overnight, but another has been pipped for a while and rocking vigorously. Worried he might be stuck too. Curse the retreat of the humidifying snow!

If you hold the wet paper towel against the dried membrane long enough for the membrane to absorb the water, It will lift right off once it is wet enough.
