➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

If I order 50 Pearl eggs I am going to expect about 40 yellows.
If I may only get 15... I would be mad that it wasn't made clear that I may only get 15.

Am I making sense? I don't think I'm saying this right.

Is this kinda like false advertisement for people who are dumb like me and don't understand genetics yet?

with my pearls, I hatched 13. 12 were yeller. the other one was falb fee. as adults, 2 of the 12 are more “italian” and a couple are “dirty pearl” with a smattering of golden in the white. So, if pearls hatch 75% true and you ordered 100 eggs (that all hatched) you could get 25 that were not pearl, but were falb fee, italian etc. If you order 200 eggs of a color that hatches 75% true.....then that means 50 chicks could hatch different. with wild type or egyptian, your chances of getting an odd chick is less than 1 out of 100 eggs hatched.

This I understand!
:celebrate

I I ordered pearls and have a bunch of different color chicks. I just figure their adult plumage would have the pearl pattern regardless of color. I guess I over simplified it?

Unless they have yellow/white fluff with black stripes (or silver for snowies), they're not pearls (even then they could be golden italians which look the same but with gold instead of white base color). I haven't seen the black tipping express over any color but gold or white but there's a first time for everything.

Well heck, I should have just gotten jumbos then!

I will say I got no surviving (I think I accidentally murdered one) true black-and-white pearls (only a few sort of mottled golden types) even from the batch I ordered from another breeder, and all sorts of other colors.

But I also got all things that genetically made sense as possibilities even with all-pearl parents. If that makes sense. :idunno

This only makes sense to you.
So you know/knew that ordering say Pearls you really aren't getting all pearls right?
But us regular people don't know that.
:(
Well now we kinda do but...
