➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Lockdown question... I have a few chicken eggs left that still seem to be growing—six, one of them too dark to see inside (for me anyway). Day 18. Do I do a day before and a day after 21 (and thus lock them down tomorrow) or should they be locked down today?
I always lockdown on day 18 because I start the app on day 1. the app calendar recommends lockdown on day 19 because it starts clock at day 0. this time I split the difference and completed lockdown at approximately day 18.5. I have had early pippers and hatchers (usually boys) so i don’t want to risk not being ready.

Okay, thanks Muddy. (I think I did the math wrong above) Anyway, you’re hatching quail, right? So you start a day before the due date. If I want to do that with my chicken eggs (assuming 21 days hatch), I’d lock down on day 20?
i’m currently hatching both chickens and quail. I use hatch-a-batch app. I timed my sets so that chickens lockdown day 18 and quail day 14.

It really is not critical if you lock down a day early or a day late. I know one woman who did not move any eggs to her hatcher until she would see an internal pip. It worked for her but requires a lot of candling.

Here they are:
I know the pictures aren’t very good, but I will try for individual pics later. It’s technically their first day here so I don’t want to stress them out too much.

Sooooo I bought 6 adult Coturnix Quail... I think there are 4 girls and 2 boys? I need help later to determine color varieties as well. Pictures coming soon. :)
Do tell. How did this happen? Where did you get 6 adult quail from? Didn't the seller sex them for you? Are any crowing? Of course, you are aware that 4 boys will fight and abuse the 2 girls? Purpose?
