theroritically, it should be 50/50 with hatching eggs. A few years ago I noticed I had a porpotionately higher rate of male birds hatching. So decided to investigate why, was it temperature, male to female ratio in my breeding birds or what? In many species if there are not enough available males to breed, the females of the species tend to produce more male offspring than female. Then ran across an article about egg shape and sex determination. Not really believing it I decided to give it a try! Maybe after several years of observation I'll get an answer?Some will say my sampling size isn't adequate but over the course of several years should be enough to reach a reliable conclusion, either yes or no, there is correlation between shape of egg and sex determination.
