➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

If I do it, I have to figure out the sexes of the adults for sure. I’d like three pens if I have at least pairs.
I have so many things to deal with (still can’t figure out where my roof is leaking! :barnie ), as long as my quail are looking healthy and happy, I am not feeling pressure to sex them once and for all.

What frightens me is the little voice bouncing around, shrieking about being so excited to put them in the incubator, and see what they look like when they hatch. She is getting me into the idea too! :th
Just set some already.
Try it out.

Today is my real lockdown day.
I can't wait for my silly handful of eggs to hatch.

They better all hatch too.
:old
Still at 8 eggs?

I've got the 13 quail cooking still. I should candle again. The quail should be big enough to see development by day 9.

Also, how critical is the turning. I'm trying real hard to hand turn twice a day for the 2 that didn't fit in the turner. I don't see how y'all do it more. That and I'm thinking the automatic turner is straining with all the chicken eggs. It looks like it is moving, but is usually in the same position way too long.

One week to lock down. Better get another package of pampers. This is so exciting!

So yesterday was day five and I candled last night. Of the 32 eggs 3-4 looked to not be developing and another 3-4 were too dark to see much of anything. The rest looked to be developing fairly well from what I could see.

So I know not everyone candles but for those who do when do you make the call to pull the duds and get rid of them? I question my candling ability do to limited experience but wouldn’t mind getting them in the auto turner if there were few enough “good” ones left to all fit.

I think I wait until I can clearly see a difference in the ones that are developing vs the clears.
I think that was about a week in for me this time.
I need to look back and see for sure though.
