Obviously I've been testing this....typically I wait until 3-4 weeks but as long as temps are above 70 and they have protection from storms/flooding they can do well outside as early as 2 weeks. The 18 weren't too happy about re-entering lock-up!Yep. Jumbos from KC Quail. I was thinking I could put the heat plate in the coop when they transition but maybe they wouldn’t even need it by then. They’re already getting tiny pin feathers on their wings at less than a week old. Crazy how fast they grow!
Mine went out at 2 days old. No heat. Highs near 90 & lows maybe high 70’s.So if nighttime temps are high 70s or above how soon can babies go live outside
nice assortment!! that was a myshire mix right?? looks like a couple tibetan tux, a scarlet tux, a couple pearls, some red range and maybe a snowy, possible SSC or 2!!! 27/29 is AWESOME!!
yes definitely get lots of pics!! we’ve been working on putting chick vs adult pics together!! @CoturnixComplex is going to put them in a separate color thread on here once we get enough. I thought i saw where zack is trying to put more together for his myshire eggs as well! my batch this time is grau fee, pearl, and pansy so hopefully i will be able to get some good ones. going to be interesting to see what pops out of my homegrown group as well because i have almost every color all together in same aviary!!Yep, all but 3 eggs came from Myshire. If I ever hatch more quail, I would definitely order from them again—kinda blown away by the hatch rate, considering the eggs were shipped between states.
Oh, and thank you for the color info—I didn't even know some of them existed! I hope to take enough pictures as they grow that I can match each chick to their adult coloration.
Your photos are spectacular. You could be pro! Thank you for sharing them with us.@mixedUPturk Thank you. I see you were busy handing out likes on my photos this morning.
