➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Yep today is day 14. I will lock them down tonight, thank you all for the advice :D
:celebrate
Quail hatching this weekend for Rose! Can we call you Rose? Sounds better than Thorny. Will you be candling prior to lock down to pull any quitters?

Mine going to lock down on Friday for another Monday hatch. :hmm I've got to plan this better next year. :old

Which means Kiki is right behind us. <not gonna candle until Thursday. Got a date Friday. Maybe Saturday. Saturday is looking good.>

I'm making my Turner out on Friday too.
I've been candling almost everyday.

I've candled once.
The bator is running hotter than January. Not sure why. I really, really want to set another 10 eggs after these finish to see if we get more whites. The rat cage is a double decker. Small, so small batches are good. And the Jumbos won't start laying for 9 more weeks. :D

9 weeks!
No...that is too long. I don't want to wait that long.

cleaned out incubator and set first 60 jumbo and 30 falb fee eggs! first brooder cleaning with official head count is 40 chicks!! the last couple have slightly curled toes and hubby noticed 1 scissor beak on what I believe to be a homegrown yeller. I think I had total hatch of 44-45. I lost 2 in brooder, 1 post-hatch under broody, and had to cull my last hatcher due to severe splay leg. That was about 62% hatch rate overall.

Something pulled two bodies out of the hole. Both were whole this morning, but one has since been munched on. / :sick
I saw the mother. I apologized, but she was ignoring me.

Cool day today, and only nine eggs. I started on a six by six pen. It took forever to get as far as I did, and I’m ready to break something. I can still make it twelve feet long, or even twelve by twelve. Or just burn everything down. :D

I need to make new doors.
My picture frames are not meant to be outside.

we’re starting over with mat experiment this weekend.....I don’t like the nylon mesh they have holding it together as my birds find ways to get stuck in any loose areas. We also had to butcher one of my pearl hens today because she got tangled in the aviary netting overnight to the point of not being able to use her leg once freed. :hit
