Quail getting into position to break out of the egg
I just put my quailie eggs in lock down.
I think one is already starting to draw down. If the dummy decides to try and hatch early I'm sure he will die.

I have one other egg that I'm pretty sure quit in the last few days.

The rest, about 25, look good to go.

I swear you make me pee.

Is this a dead egg? It has a very clear line through it, one side dark the other side clear. No movement.
very likely an ā€œearly quitterā€ but I would leave it in until lockdown before making decision to toss it.....(just in case)
in other words ā€œput it in the suspicious or probably not sectionā€ ;)

What day is it on?

What day is it on?
Day 7

Edit: Since this is my first batch, I plan to keep all of the eggs until I'm sure they're done hatching, but will start separating them into "good" vs. "probably not" groups in the incubator.

Can you use a sharpie on the eggs, or is the ink toxic to the chicks?
